Illuminated LED bathroom mirror - reliable brands?

Hi all, I want task lighting by my bathroom mirror but don’t have space for wall lights since the mirror is in a corner. I’m now looking at LED mirrors, but I can’t find many real comparisons or long-term reviews. Do LED mirrors provide good task lighting, and how reliable are they over time? I’m mainly concerned about LED longevity. Ideally around 50×70 cm, side-lit or fully lit, with a simple switch or sensor (though wall proximity worries me). Extras like demister or colour temp control are a bonus.

Good news on the longevity worry — the LEDs themselves are rarely the failure point. Quality LED strips are rated for 30,000-50,000 hours, which at normal bathroom use works out to well over a decade. What actually fails on these mirrors, in order of likelihood, is the driver/power supply, the touch or PIR sensor switch, or the seal letting humidity in over the strip — not the diodes.

So the buying advice is really about those three things, not the LED spec sheet:

• Look for a fully sealed unit with a stated IP rating — IP44 at minimum for anything mounted directly above a basin. A sealed unit keeps humidity off the driver board, which is where most premature failures actually happen.
• A sensor switch (PIR or touch) is convenient but is also the single most common part to fail on these mirrors over time. If you want maximum reliability over fanciness, a simple physical switch outlasts a sensor.
• Warranty length is a decent proxy for how confident the manufacturer is — 3-5 years is a good sign; anything under 1-2 years suggests corner-cutting on the driver.
• A demister pad adds heat, which can slightly shorten LED life in a fully sealed housing — not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing it's a small tradeoff for the fog-free glass.
• One more practical point: buy from a supplier that sells replacement drivers/spare parts for their mirrors, not just the whole unit. When these do fail, it's almost always the driver, and being able to swap that part instead of buying a whole new mirror is a real cost saver down the line.

At 50x70cm either side-lit or fully-lit will give you enough usable light for grooming tasks; fully-lit (backlit around the whole perimeter) tends to be more even and reduces shadow on the face compared to side-only lighting.
