  • Furnace Air Supply

I have a Coleman Electric Furnace / Heat Pump in my newer manufactured home.. On top of the furnace is a small electric valve that when the furnace is on, it opens and draws a small amount of outside air from a vent on the roof into the intake of the furnace (before the filter).. Even when it is Freezing outside, the minute the furnace comes on to warm the house, this valve opens and in comes the cold air... the majority of the air into the furnace is recirculated from within the house.. Is this normal operation for this electric valve on top of the furnace? It seems as though the house would heat up much more quickly if super cold air outside air wasn't brought in!
