  • Toyostove - Monitor Are they the same?

New to forum - I have 4 Toyostoves but when I try to get into a forum for Toyostoves it refers me to the Monitor - what is a Monitor and are they just a new name for the Toyostove?

    NO but similar

Monitor is a similar style heater to a Toyo, but a different manufacturer.
Kinda like a Chevy and a Ford are both pick up trucks and serve the same function but are different in design.

        Toyostove info

        PAJ,

Monitors and Toyostoves are kerosene fired vented heaters. That’s about the only thing similar. Monitors are a positive pressure heater and most Toyo’s (L56, L73) are negative pressure. This means when there is a fire in the burner pot of a Monitor the chamber has more pressure inside than your room. The opposite is true for the Toyo. There are good and bad points about both systems. If you have a gasket break on a Monitor you will have CO gas in the room when the stove fires. With a broken gasket on a L56 or L73 you will not get CO gas when the stove fires. No carbon touches a Monitor (positive pressure) blower fan. With a Toyo (negative pressure) carbon gets on the exhaust fan and can cause an imbalance. This is not to say a Toyo never gives off odors. There are situations that arise with a Toyo that will give off odors. If you are looking for Toyostove info, try Rural Energy Enterprises in Anchorage. They have all the manuals and owners service info. The other major difference is that Toyo still makes stoves and Monitor does not.
