Monitor gas heater gf1800 problem + lp conversion

Hi I picked up a gf1800 and it flashes and shuts off. What is a common problem with these?

I also picked up a gf3800 and need to switch it from gas to propane. Is it expensive to convert?

Lastly, how do these heaters fare as opposed to a Rinnai?

The bad part about a Monitor gas heater is they don't make parts for them any longer. It's been more than 5 years since any part has been made for a Monitor. If you need a main circuit board for a gas Monitor heater you are looking at $450. Very few people will give advice about them as any service work done improperly can cause an explosion. You can buy a brand new Rinnai and get parts and service as well.
