  • M41 - no lights, camera or action

Have a monitor 41 that has stopped communicating and working altogether. No LCD display or lights, no startup sounds. Tested power to PCB OK. Pulled three fuses on PCB and all checked good. Unit is hardwired to the 15A breaker on main service panel. I cut power for a few minutes and restored, but no go .... Are there any "resets" or areas to check that may have caused this apparent PCB failure.

Thanks in advance for any ideas - suggestions.

the unit shouldn't be hardwired to the house wiring, but that's besides the point. the printed circuit that mounts on the top cover might have a break in the foil. you'll need to remove it and look at the foil with a magnifying glass for breaks. power goes from the plug to the switch and from the switch to the main board.

      M41, no power

      Fastdd,

Check out the transformer. If you are lucky the transformer burned before the main circuit board. On a M41 the transformer is separate from the PCB, so if it’s bad you can replace it. Use a volt meter on the OHM’s scale. The black wire should be 7.3 OHM’s, Blue wire 995 OHM’s and the Red wire 6.2 OHM’s. The bad part is, if it’s bad, finding a transformer for a M41 might be a little hard. If the transformer is good you will have to look at the back of the PCB for a burned spot. There is an outside chance the On/Off switch has burned. If so, you will have to deal with the indicator circuit. There is a post on this forum for Mathis Electric in NC, they might be able to overhaul your M41 electrical panels. Check them out.
