    toilet flapper problem

My toilet was running continuously so I replaced the flapper and it doesn't leak anymore....however, now after I flush, the flapper doesn't fall back down and water just runs right through.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Chris.

Is the flapper hanging up or rubbing on anything? If so try to reposition it see it operates freely. If this isn't the case, I'd try buying a different type of flapper. Some are of better quality than others.

Check the alignment of the flapper it may be too high or too low on the refill pipe.

If its the style that slips over the two holders on the overflow tube take a drill bit or knife and open the holes a little bit so it swings freely. If its the style that has a rod attached to it you need to find out whats causing it to bind up and stick.
