Heat Pump Fan Motor

Hi,
Hope someone can help! I am replacing a fan motor on the outside (old)York heat pump. I ordered an AO Smith OEM but got an AO Smith universal. First question, old motor has ground, brown to capacitor, black to circut board and purple to? New motor has ground, black, brown and white. Is white the same as purple and where does it go, I forgot where the purple wire went. Thanks for any help.

brown would go to the capacitor. look at your motor terminations on your unit diagram - should tell you the function of the purple wire.

Thanks for the onfo but the wiring is faded to unreadable.

Since AO sent you a universal replacement, I would call them to find out the wiring complement. Ain't your fault they sent what they did!
