  • How to determine size of a/c?

In relation to my problem with my compressor I'm trying to do some research on my system. First step seems to be find the size in tons.

I looked at the label on my compressor but didn't see anything about the size in tons for the unit but I did see a lot of other numbers. What on the label for an outdoor unit will tell you it's size in tons?

Look at the ### on the case of the unit that will tell you are put them here and some one can help. Now I say most of the time the last two ## before the letter is the BTUs Say like AH5524E on the compressor That would be a 2 ton at 24000 btu one ton is 12000 btu.

I never found any numbers like you suggested but I did find the model number and did a search on Google. It turns out it's a 5 ton unit from Payne (pa10ja060). Now to try and figure out why it doesn't work so well.[]

      Thanks.
