  • Foam Insulation in Garage?

Perhaps not the right forum however has anyone ever heard or tried spraying foam insulation on their garage ceiling in order to help deal with a cold bedroom above the garage? I have been told it is a good solution and provides an R20 insulation. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Be a lot cheaper to put in Batts or if drywalled. You can take and blow in cellulose insulation in the joist.

Foam sticks and is excellent for the application. If you do it put in soffit vents first if your ridge is vented. Styrofoam channels that staple to the roof. Sprayfoam goes over them. This allows the roof to breathe.

Can I spray it right on the drywalled ceiling?

If I have it right you mean the ceiling in the garage and the bed room over it. The foam is good but I dont think Id spray it on the drywall ceiling there. Dont think fire code would let you. The 5/8" drywall is to serve as a fire stop.

Oh you got a finished room - I didn't know. Thought it was open construction. In this case blown in cellulose would be ideal.
