Fireplace pilot

Hello all,
New to the forum and heating/cooling systems in general. My question is about a gas fire place. The pilot let goes out every couple of days. Asked around, answer is replace thermocouple. Bought thermocouple on the way home today...doens't appear to have a thermocouple. It has to have a thermocouple???
It is a Monesson unvented system with themostat. It is 3 season old--previos owner used one year and i'm now figuring it all out.
Any suggestions appreciated.

For you own good dont fix it. Any unvented unit like that cant be sold in most states.

I understand your concern...however, I will fix and use it. There are 2 carbon monoxide detectors in my home and the logs themselves have an oxygen depletion sensor. Not to mention they are not a primary heat source. Hopefully, someone has an opinion on a fix.

What model do you have?
Do you see a sensor that the pilot flame bathes?
Could it be that there is not enough oxygen, causing the pilot to shut down?

Hello...I had a similar problem with mine, I removed it from the base.
I didn't disconnect the likes but move it just enough as to not crimp the line,cleaned the thermopile with emory cloth as the can build up soot over time so the proper millivolts will not be produced to the valve,I cleaned the orifice out with a thin piece of wire,and remounted tightly(heating up and cooling can change the alignment over time) and made sure the thermopile was bathed at least one-third in the flame of the pilot.Worked for me haven't had any troubles since.

There is a big big diferens from a Thermopile to a Thermocouple

"I cleaned the orifice out with a thin piece of wire", That is for sure a no no . you should never use a steel like pin or such to clean an orifice in any gas unit.
