  • Gas Shut Off Valve

I have a ventless gas heater in my basement that has a gas shut off valve in the gas line going to it. I always turn the gas shut off valve to the off position whenever I turn the heater off. Are these valves designed to be turned off and on frequently, or am I I damaging the valve in any way doing what I am doing?

    Thanks!

yes you can turn them on and off. But Id check with code where you are . The vent less gas heater's are outlawed in most states. Id say dont turn them on if you dont have a carbon monoxide alarm in the room

Thanks for the reply. I will check the local code. I live in Illinois and they still sell them here. I take it carbon monoxide has been a problem with these?
