    help--a/c blowing warm air

We live outside Atlanta, GA. We just got back from our one vacation a year and the a/c unit is blowing warm air--heating the house instead of cooling it. Normally we have the thermostat set on 78 during the day, and 75 when we get home (our unit is on 2nd floor and the vents are in the floor upstais and ceiling downstairs only) and upstairs gets very warm in summer). While we were gone, we set it to 79 continuously to save money. When we go home last night, the thermostat read 79. We turned it back to 75 as usual. This morning it was 77 and the air was on but not blowing cold. Now it's 80 and the air is still on. The white pipe outside has no water running from it either. Please help! We had the condensor coil replaced last year. THANK YOU!!

sorry, but i have no clue what i'm talking about

both inside and outside are running.

tried turning off breakers and putting back on.

no water dripping from the white run off pipe, and the pipes/tubes from the outside thing are neither hot nor cold. the air blowing out outside is also not warm.

      hope this helps--we need help!

i'll have to check. it didn't look like there was a copper pipe outside. there's a thin one and a thicker one that run from the outside unit to the house. neither is cold or wet. the fan inside and outside do run, but i don't know if either is the compressor. how do i tell if the compressor is running? what do you mean by checking the breakers? we switched them off and then back on, but i don't know what else you would do. (this is our first house) i really appreciate your help so much! thanks!

Sounds like you have to take a meter and go into the unit. To find out what is not working. Id say call a hvac tech and be there when he or she comes . Go over the whole AC and heat with them and find out how it works. A new filter every 30 to 90 day heat or cool

thanks. i will call someone out. my dad said the compressor may have been tripped by the low freon and may just need to be reset. does that sound right? i was also told that if the compressor is messed up, it will cost about 1500 to repair. if freon is the only problem, then 150. sound reasonable to you? THANKS!!!

Sounds high if its just the compressor. About $800. the 1500 for a whole new outdoor unit. .If the high and low for freon was it the inside fan should run. Could be just a capacitor in the outside unit
