Hello. could someone please try to tell me what to do to correct my central unit that is freezing up on the outside unit? Surely there has to be someone who knows. My husband is a Retired US Air Force Sgt. who unfortunetly due to his post tramatic stress syndrome hit a police car (there was no one in it) but he was charged anyway and is prison. I am trying to keep things working but I am just a woman. I can do it if I just know what to do. Please someone help me. Esty.

freezing up means no or low air flow to the condenser unit. check for leaves or spider nests around the outdoor unit and clean it out. shut off power to the unit and hose off the coil. when power is applied checl to see if the fan is spinning, if not could be the contactor or motor itself. lastly there might be a freon leak in the system. time to call a qualified serviceman rated for the EPA and licensed for servicing R-22 and R-12 systems.
