  • HVAC sytem timed?

    hello everyone,

i am brand new to the forums and am quite amazed at the helpfulness of some of the regulars here i thought id give it a shot with my problem.

i just recently had a problem with my system, with my old thermostat out of the blue it started turning off at night time, and it wouldn't come back on till 11am the next day, it does this all the time. i went out and got a new hunter thermostat programmable and everything. well this one has the same problem.

I checked the programmable issue and set it very cool at all settings. it still does the same thing. the thermostat wont even control when and how the fan starts either, no control at all on the system.
is there any other problems that could cause the same problem other than a thermostat?

thanks a lot in advance for your responses.

EDIT: i went looking for the name of the company for the forced air furnace, but the closest thing i came to it on the plaque was: United Products Group.
also the thermostat is a hunter 44660.
also while i was up there i noticed a blinking green light near the board. green is usually good, but should it be blinking?

sorry about my nubness with these types of systems.

try operating yopur system without the thermostat. there has to be a common voltage in lead and your load wire be it a burner or cool circuit. the control voltage is 24 volts AC. fans usually run off a plenum limit switch and/or a fan relay. check your control computer. I've seen posts where the thermostat is ok, its the durn computer or control board is bad. carrier has had an issue with those.

We would need to know what type of htg/cooling system you have and the present wiring connections to this T stat. Also what is the model of your Hunter Tstat?

united products group in the google search turns up - unitary products distributorship - further looking lists united product distributorship to include York AC compressors. Am I on the right track?

i edited the info on the first post, the thermostat: hunter 44660

and the only company i could find for the system was the United Products Group.

i did see a numerical model number that was strictly numerical. ill go check that out.

              4460 hunter
              this is the thermostat.

go to page 49 of the manual, and i used the first one top left, the 4 wire wiring due to the way my old thermostat was hooked up.
