York furnace fan not working with ac

My York Furnace fan was working intermitently and now I only get a humming sound, Jumped the wire and the thermostat is working fine, I am wondering if it might be the capacitor, any ideas?

take a cover off and if you can spin the fan and the motor starts then yes a capacitor needs replacing. also maybe the bearings need oiling - look for yellow or gray caps on the end bells. off chance it may be the start switch inside is hung up.
