  • Attic Fan!!! SOS!!!!

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to repair an attic fan??? My future wife and I moved into my grandmothers old home recently and the attic fan had been painted shut.....The motor and all seems to be working just fine BUT I believe the paint has weighted down the flaps and I dont believe the fan has enough power to get the flaps open Is there a way I can fix this problem??? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks for reading!

    Have a blessed day!

use a brush on paint and varnish remover, liquid or gel type. once the damper is freed up, neutralize the remover with alcohol. when dry use a good thin oil to lube the pivot points.

use a razorblade carefully between the slats and around the edges.

well, then, I guess the bottom line is either replace all the canvas flaps with new canvas or replace the gable fan with one of higher cfm's and a weighted damper louver.
