What kind of paint can I use for the grill on these and the unit itself? a few of my grills have rust. What causes the rust on grill?

I have used rattle can paint on louvers before, you just have to get it close to the original and spray the whole thing. Moisture in the house and heat from the stove over time can cause the louver to rust. Being stored outside can also rust the unit.

I actually have used some high heat engine paint in the past to paint the grilles, advance auto parts used to sell a color that was very similar to that of the monitors, I would take my small sandblaster and clean the grille of all the rust and old paint and paint the grilles and they looked good and lasted I've done this for a few customers of mine.Comment
