I have a heat pump question. How much water should be cosidered average to be coming out of my A/C unit? It seems to be dripping excessively out the drain. It is an 8 year old system. Thanks!

The water that you see dripping is condensate moisture that results from dehumidifying the air as it passes through the system. The actual amount of water will vary day by day depending upon the relative humidity of the atmosphere.
The actual amount of water would depend upon the size of your system and how many cubic feet of air it handles as well as the relative humidity of the air. In general, for a central air unit on a single family dwelling 5 or 6 gallon or more per day would not be uncommon.Last edited by LazyPup; 06-12-2007, 06:04 PM.
