  • wiring for thermostat

I have only four wires coming out of wall blue, red, white, green. No old thermostat to compare to.Can someone tell me what wires go where ,i'm installing a hunter thermostat.

Do not let the wires touch the red one when changing it out.
    R -red
    Y -blue
    W -white
    G -green

The transformer is something you can not just go pick up in any store so if you do short out the wires you could very easily loose your transformer as well as a few other components. The other components are alot less likely but the transformer is definitely at risk.

Lemmee: The fact that R is Red , and Y is Yellow ,and so on, does not give you much help. (duh) Anyways , RED is the power (24V) (common) WHITE is the Heat. YELLOW is the cooling contactor... and GREEN is the Fan relay,,,Good luck Hube

Lemmee; I forgot to mention that because you have no yellow wire, that the Blue can substitute for the Yellow - "Y"(cooling contactor) Hube
