        • when I first set up this forum on monitor heaters, little did I know that it would take off like it did. I had an M-41 in my house and after paying $146.00 for a new combustion blower I figured there had to be a better way of maintaining the heater. After all, it is the main heater for my house in Northern NY. The monitor had a very good track record for reliability. The heater has parts made in Japan. I figured there had to be materials available here in the "states." McMaster-Carr and MSC Industrial were my choices for parts. I broke the viewing window on mine and needed a replacement. I found some boro-silicate glass in McMaster-Carr. A replacement from Monitor would be $45 for a chunk 1 1/2 inches square. The boro-silicate was 6 bucks. Peelable re-inforced high temp gasket material from McMaster was $19 for a piece 1 foot wide by 4 ft long. Burner mat material - ceramic fiber .019 thick with an acryllic coating, 1 foot wide by three feet long - another 20 bucks. a burner mat from Monitor was $55. Go figure.

          • Put a new burner in my 441 today and it worked then quit. Turns out there is a lever in the float bowl ( maybe for earthquakes) that cuts off the fuel. Hope this helps someone.

            • the reset button in the CLC [constant level control] is either a toggle over center mechanical lockout or a release for a magnet that keeps the needle valve closed when the float gets too high. it isn't a prime button that so many refer to.

              • Can anyone send me the PDF for a 41 or a 441. Pop just put a new burner thing in the firepot. Now the stove won't power ON. We've been repairing this stove on a wing & a prayer for 20 years so far without much trouble. It's a Model 41. The dealer in town desperately wants to sell us a new stove. We can't afford it. If anyone has the PDF for the 41 or the 441, will you please send it to grewingk@gmail.com ? We're in Alaska. It isn't cold yet, but it will be soon, and we don't have a woodstove in here.

                  The 441/422 repair manual is still at the link Megrine set up earlier this year.

                      Hayzee I just wanted to thank you for your help. Last year when my heater stopped working we also had the only 4x4 in our home give out. Our family was cold and tired of walking up and down the the snowy hill. By the time I got everything back online I just never took the time to say thanks.

                        just a quick question , i have a 441..runs fine on hi but on med or low i get a yellow flame and it soon obscures siteglass with black sooty powder..any ideas on this ???it runs fine on high but i'm going thru fuel like crazy at this rate...thank you, floyd

                        • does the combustion blower make like a whirring noise, sort of like a jet engine? if so, bearings on the blower are going. check your inlet/outlet through the wall pipe for an obstruction. the inlet pipe may have an ice build up inside which is restricting the air flow.

                          • no obstructions, and the inlet blower keeps running .when i first got it they were stuck...the inlet blower bearings...i freed them up an it ran fine last year...might be time for a tune up....but it acts like it's getting too much fuel and no air as it doesnt have the clean burn like it used to on med and low ..i dont want to pull it apart right now as it's the only heat source and it's 9 degrees..it runs great at full song just goes thru some kero

                            • did a little snooping this am on it..i believe i have a board or sensor problem as it kills the inlet air to to the chamber when iit tries to cycle down to a lower burner setting....havent checked any voltages or taken cover off on the back ...tooo cold

                              • inside of the blower shroud is a solenoid operated damper. there is a plastic flapper with an O ring on it. the O ring may have broken off and wedged itself so the blower doesn't throttle down. does yours have sleeve bearings? an oil like 3 - in -one oil would work best. never use wd-40.
