MKADYZ - How has the Permatex Copper held up on the exterior gaskets? I'm deciding which way to go with the gasket rebuild.

you'll have to contact the user direct. I only used rutland cement on the burner mat - nothing else! all other gaskets do not require a cement.

The permatex doesn't appear to have worked very well in place of gaskets. I used it all last winter without problems, but it does appear dried and cracked in a lot of places. I haven't torn the burner down yet this year, I will probobly do that next week. When I do, I will most likely scrape off the permatex and replace it with the generic woven material from McMaster Carr. I used burner cement to glue down the burner mat. I will keep everyone posted with what I find when I tear it down next week.

The original service manual link isn't working anymore apparently. I will try to get a new one up as soon as possible. If someone wants to host it for us, please let me know.

Vary informative, thank you for your efforts.

I tried to start a new question on this form but was at a loss how to do it...

I have a 422 n for years it has operated flawlessly.

This year it started right off however after the first tank ran out, I refilled the tank but after attempting to re start it, it shuts down and all the burn states lights blink together.

            Any idea where to start.

            Thank you, Glennnnn

ok, you said the fuel ran out. first thing to check is a clogged tank filter. change the felt filter. next, disconnect the fuel line at the tank and heater and blow it out with compressed air. remove the two screws to the right lower of the fuel sump and clean out the stainless filter behind it. put everything back together and re-start the heater. listen and check what happens.

HayZee518 thanks for all the posts, I meant to ask about using the cement in place of the gaskets not with the gaskets.

all the heaters I've ran against, I have yet to see round compund gaskets. besides once the silicone is flattened they stay that way. cloth type gaskets although get flattened are resilient enough to "bound back" when tension is relaxed.

                    mkadyz,

The site you had for the service manual pulled it down, could you email it to me?

                    muddymutt@gmail.com

                    Thanks, Jeff

please go to HVAC sub directory Monitor Heaters. Go down four or five entries to where it says Monitor Heater Service Manual with my handle after it [HayZee518] and click on the url. then save it to your browser or pdf file in adobe reader 9.0

Does anyone know the size of the left-handed nut that holds the impreller onto the combustion motor? I changed bearings, and lost it. Thanks in advanced.

That is a metric thread, if you can take the shaft to Lowes and the will fit you a net.
